Cafes
Brambles Tea Room is centrally positioned on the Main Road in Windermere and has seen a hike in its popularity since being featured in the ITV docu-drama The Lakes which aired in 2010. The programme followed chef-owner Amanda Davies as she got the keys to the new business and made it happen. Now firmly on the foodie map of Windermere, the café and tea rooms is busy all day with tourists and locals who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and homemade food. The double-fronted café has outside seating for around a dozen people and inside, an open kitchen, wooden floors and furniture. A large red leather sofa in the window and photos on the walls taken by Amanda’s partner add a homely feel. Breakfasts are available until 3pm and because everything is made in-house, gluten- and dairy-free dishes and cakes are available. Lunch sees sandwiches, jackets, soups, toasties and more. The homemade cakes here are described as ‘the kind you would love to make at home but don’t have the time’. They operate a loyalty card and hold regular events including sewing nights. Open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, closed Sunday.

Rothay Manor has 3 Stars & 1 Rosette from the AA and has been listed in the Good Food Guide for 41 years, as well as in all the major guides.
The Dining Room itself is spacious with tables laid in a classical style. The relaxing atmosphere and view of the gardens make it the perfect setting for any meal - whether it be lunch, dinner or a private party. Service is efficient yet unobtrusive, which makes each and every visitor feel truly at ease. This element of personal concern perhaps explains that elusive quality, remarked upon by so many guests, which sets Rothay Manor in the class of a true Country House Hotel.

Burlington's Restaurant
The rich farmlands of Cumbria provide abundant produce of which The Beech Hill's kitchen makes full use. The hotel is actively involved with the annual Taste of Cumbria Food and Drink Festival - an entertaining showcase for the gourmet delights available from the county. Dinner in the Burlington's Restaurant, with its award winning food, service and Lake views from almost every window, is the highlight of any stay at The Beech Hill. Saturday evenings are particularly enjoyable as guests are entertained by a jazz quartet or pianist.
The hotel has held 2 AA Rosettes for a number of years and its consistency in producing cuisine of a high standard is ably demonstrated by our two mouth-watering menus:
Dinner is served daily between 6:45 pm to 8.45 pm . Dress code smart/casual, preferably no denim.
Griffin Bar & Lounge
Relax in our Griffin Bar and Lounge with its big comfortable sofas and uninterrupted views of Lake Windermere. Cool in the summer and warmed by a log fire in the winter, you can take the opportunity to pause, reflect and unwind. Guests can enjoy a quiet drink, full afternoon tea, light snacks or simply relax with their feet up and enjoy the views. On a sunny day unwind and take in the splendour of the vista on our spacious terrace, enjoying one of our cocktails or enjoy the comfort of an open log fire with one of our specialty coffees on a cold winter's night.
The bar and lounge is named in memory of Harry Griffin, the famous writer and rock climber who was a regular guest at the Beech Hill. Harry wrote more books about the Lake District than anyone else and was still writing his record breaking Country Diary for the Guardian Newspaper when he died in 2004. Details of his achievements and some of his precious memorabilia are on display in our lounge area.
