The Hope and Anchor In is set in the popular and unique old fishing village of Hope Cove, here in the South Hams of Devon. The village is popular with Summer visitors but importantly, it still retains a good sense of community. The Hope and Anchor is the hub of the village and maintains that vital balance, serving both our visiting guests and our resident population.

The ‘Hobbit House’ (so called because of its unique low front door) is set in the beautiful pub garden grounds. Recently refurbished in greys and creams, with splashes of red, the rooms reflect the beauty of the Victoria Inn pub. We offer two rooms – one double and one twin – both are en-suite with shower rooms. The quirkiness and individuality of the Hobbit House accommodation offers respite from today’s busy world within the heart of Salcombe, only twenty steps from our great bar and restaurant.

Discover South Sands, our small, independent hotel on South Sands Beach. With sea views rooms, warm service and a stylish restaurant serving locally inspired dishes, it is the perfect coastal retreat. Drop in for a long lunch, a romantic dinner or a sundowner on the terrace and enjoy the charm only an independent hotel and restaurant can offer.

Many of our 50 luxurious bedrooms have private balconies, simply slide open the wide glass doors, breathe in the fresh sea air and enjoy the unrivalled views.
With complimentary decanters of Gin and Sherry in every room, sit back with a drink in one hand and a pair of binoculars in the other, which also come as standard in the bedrooms’ ‘balcony baskets’. Featured in all rooms with balconies, the baskets are complete with throws to enjoy the views from morning through to night, as you soak up every inch of your surroundings.

We have three double bedrooms and one family room which has a bunk bed and a super king size bed, which can be split into twin beds if preferred. All of the rooms have en-suite shower rooms, a flat screen television/DVD player and tea and coffee making facilities.
The letting rooms have direct external access, and over look the rolling hills of the Devon countryside.

Salcombe is well off the beaten track, our Inn come Hotel is nestled away from prevailing wind on the high street which is busy with pedestrians . We have 3 log fires Salcombe was once a major port for the fruit trade and, over the years, has found fame as a safe haven for family holidays and visiting yachtsmen. It is situated at the southern end of the Salcombe Estuary; the estuary is, in fact, a ria which is a landlocked, salt water inlet, with beautiful, safe, sandy beaches. The whole area is a Marine Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Marine Local Nature Reserve and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
