Situated 100miles off the English coast, it may well only cover 45 square miles, but the Island of Jersey really does have something for everyone, with a few surprises along the way. Fusing the very best of British and French influences the island is steeped in history, making it an ideal destination for culture vultures. Outdoor types are also well served by the veritable maze of country lanes that seem to wind endlessly through the islands lush, unspoiled and often stunning rural areas.
By combining traditional with modern, Jersey offers hospitality, sightseeing and activities second to none. Whether you want to enjoy the wide range of world-class water-sport facilities, wine and dine with the finest, sunbathe on white sand beaches or simply kick back and relax totally, Jersey is the place to go. The perfect place for a family holiday, cosy getaway or activity weekend you will leave the island feeling completely satisfied yet hungry for more.

VISITING JERSEY CHANNEL ISLANDS
Just returned home from our first trip to Jersey and we are wondering why we have never visited before. Theres so much to do and so close to home compared with our usual holiday destinations. Found this guide very helpful on our visit.
We are already planning our next trip hopefully for later this year. What a great find!

Well we are back home now from our three months cruising holiday on our yacht Almida.
We spent almost six weeks cruising around the Channel Islands. We used the guide's and noticed that it seems customary to leave reviews on the businesses for future visitors.
Well we visited so many over this period of time, so we will be posting our reviews over a period of time.
It's trying to remember our experiences in each case.
Anyway we are going to give it a try.
Hope you're visitors to the guide's find our comments of use when making decisions on where to go.

I see you are updating your Channel Islands Harbour Guides. I have friends from Northern France who are sailing to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark etc. this Summer. We are going to visit them and help out crewing etc. but dont want to stay on the boat full time and are looking for accommodation. I see you have an accommodation feature on Harbourguides, is this for holiday makers or for crew members? We are on a tight budget and I think a feature on budget price hotels on your guides would be a goods idea.

It is tennerfest at the moment in Jersey and Guernsey.
Go to www.tennerfest.com for participating restaurants.
It means you can get 3 courses for a tenner at some restaurants( most are a little bit more, but still good value) enjoy.

If you are new to Jersey or returning for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time, make sure you visit Bento (Sushi Place) they know what they are doing as far as sushi goes wether on the well stocked revolving belt, or hot from kitchen ie . squid and 21 year old aged beef.
Even if you think you don't like raw fish there is something there for everyone in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Thanks again to all the staff.

The Wilson Crew
Sailing over to the Channel Islands in April 2012 for the Summer season.Have just discovered your web site and we are finding it very useful in our preparation, however how up to date are these "Guides" and why is there less information on Jersey than the other Islands considering its the biggest isle ??
Bistro Rosa
Simply the best fish restaurant on the island. Only small so I would advise to book in advance. fantastic value for money and the service is also perfect. A definite keeper.
Samphire
Beautiful restaurant with stunning decor and perfect lighting. The restaurant has a reputation as being one of the finest on the island, so we had to give it a try. We were fortunate and got a table without booking, (although I would recommend booking first.) We were not disappointed and the whole night was a great experience for us. The bill was pretty much what we were expecting, with no unpleasant surprises or supplements.
Manos Bistro
We really enjoyed our night at Manos. The menu offers plenty of options, so if your in a group there should be something on the menu that suits everyone. The waiters are very helpful and it looks like they enjoy working there. It is described as Mediterranean cuisine, and I think that is a pretty accurate description. All things considered this restaurant is well worth visiting. I don't think you will be dissapointed.
Seafish Café
Lovely typical English fish and chip cafe/ restaurant. We ate in and everything was perfect. It was extremely busy in the takeaway area, which is usually a good sign. The service in the restaurant was good and we didnt have to wait long.
A very good traditional English chippy
Samphire
Lovely restaurant elegantly decorated with perfect lighting, making you feel like you are in a high end restaurant. the staff are very welcoming. It was a Friday when we visited and it was extremely busy. however the staff coped well and we were looked after.
The food was no letdown. We stuck to seafood. The scallops were done to perfection. The most surprising thing was the price. Although not the cheapest of restaurants its certainly not the most expensive. But taking into account the food, service and ambiance, its definitely great value for money.
Jersey Inspired
A very nice top end jewelry shop in St Helier. There is a lot of local local jewelry items such as the Ormar Shell and Jerseys Pink Granite. The shop assistant is very informative and will explain the history and origins of the jewelry they sell. If you want something to take back from Jersey that's that little bit special, Jersey Inspired is well worth a visit.
Coffee Republic
Ideally located on King Street St Helier, which is pretty much the main street on the island. Great coffee and perfect for meeting up. Lots of opportunity to people watch as this is a very busy street.
Relish Delicatessen
We called in to Relish to get some provisions and we were blown away by the standard of produce sold here. Its quite an experience buying in this delightful deli. The guys are extremely helpful and obviously enjoy their job and are eager to offer any advice on the cheeses and their other products. This is a definite shop to visit when in Jersey, itsso much more than a deli.
The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
We came to Jersey on a recce before sailing here in the Summer. It was a wet windy day and we had a walk down the prom to The Lookout. After seeing the photos, we did want to see it on a sunny day, however when we entered , the wood burner was on, the welcome was very warm and genuine, and the view was still stunning as the heavens opened up and the sea looked stormy. We decided to keep it simple and had a couple of delicious burgers washed down with some excellent wine. We spent a memorable afternoon/evening in a very comfortable and relaxing bar restaurant.
Thanks Jen & Lee
Bistro Rosa
Lovely cosy seafood restaurant with very friendly staff. We ordered a seafood plate, which was delicious, and there was more than enough for two people. The atmosphere is very relaxed and non of the staff try to rush you. Al in all it was a great experience and one we hope to repeat on our next trip to Jersey.
Evolution Cycles Jersey
A fantastic range of bikes to suit everyone. Very friendly staff that make more effort to ensure that the experience is a pleasant one. Its definitely a great way to see parts of the island.
The Watchmaker
A really nice bar with excellent mood lighting and serving up great wines and cocktails. The staff are very polite and friendly. Seems very popular with the locals, which is always a good sign.
The Rigatoni Jersey
A well turned out modern Italian restaurant right in the heart of Jersey. It was pretty busy when we went in, and although we had not made a reservation there was no problem getting us a table.
The food and service were spot on and well priced. The place has a nice atmosphere and is somewhere we will be re-visiting when in Jersey.
I visit here regularly when in Jersey. The food is just that bit different and always amazing. They have a well priced drinks menu and the views are fantastic from pretty much anywhere you sit. It’s lovely sitting outside in the summer but even if the weathers not great it has a lovely vibe inside too.
The staff are always incredibly friendly and always make us feel really welcome but it’s not just us, they seem to just be happy and friendly with everyone.
Izakaya Jersey
Hi Josh & Natalie
Yes, Izakaya is very much open and serving up some delicious authentic Japanese-Peruvian cuisine. Check it out on your next visit.
Izakaya Jersey
We passed this restaurant last year and it hadn't quite opened yet. there seemed to be quite a lot of work going on. Is it now opened?
Thanks
Bistro Rosa
What a great find, This little restaurant. Its situated at the entrance to the fish market and this pretty much explains why the fish produce they serve up is so fresh. We both had the Prawns for starters and they were delicious. For our main course we chose monkfish and turbot. We shared each others and once again it was delicious.
I think there is approximately 10 tables in this restaurant, so I would suggest booking first. The service is as good as the food and we left the restaurant looking forward to returning.
A great find!!
Manos Bistro
I have visited Manos Bistro many times now and the whole experience is great. The staff, the ambiance and the Portuguese cuisine are all 100% You are always made to feel very welcome and they never rush you.
A fantastic restaurant run and owned by lovely people.
Bond Street Social
Lovely to see the great reviews for Bond Street Social. Our Channel Islands representative visited the restaurant and bar recently when he was in Jersey and was very impressed. The 360 photos look great. The review about the candyfloss cocktail has got all the crew very thirsty!!
Seafish Café
This is the first fish and chips we have tried and we enjoyed it very much. We have heard about the English Fish and Chips many times and now we know why so many people eat this dish. We will be eating more of this food.
Kore wa watashitachi ga tameshita saisho no fisshuandochippusudeshitaga, totemo tanoshikattadesu. Igirisu no fisshu Ando chippusu ni tsuite wa nando mo kiite kimashitaga, naze kore hodo ōku no hito ga kono ryōri o taberu no ka ga wakarimashita. Watashitachi wa kono tabemono o motto taberudeshou.
Evolution Cycles Jersey
fantastic selection of bikes, electric and standard to buy or rent. They also have a comprehensive workshop for maintenance and repair.
Very professional outfit run by very helpful staff.
Restaurant Do Porto
Loved this restaurant. Very Mediterranean in its atmosphere and the dishes they serve. I think its Portuguese family owned and run. The service is as good as the food, and you are not rushed into ordering. We are seafood lovers and were delighted with our choices and the portions are very generous. Prices are also very good.
The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
Lovely beach bar restaurant located a nice walk from St Helier centre. Lovely views of the beach and plenty of seating, both inside and out. It was out of season when we visited, so we didnt need to book, but I would suspect booking in the Summer would be advisable.
When we called in we had a few drinks and we chose the burgers for our food. They were delightful and we didn't leave anything. The staff were quite young and very polite and helpful.
A great experience and one we will repeat.
I have enjoyed delicious meals at this wonderful restaurant. The service is superb and the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is warm and welcoming. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
Bento
Hi Sarah & John
As far as we know Bento is under new management. we are actually updating the guide over the next couple of weeks, so we will have all the upto date information on all our featured businesses.
We will keep you posted
HG Crew
La Taverne Restaurant
We absolutely loved this restaurant and the staff. The food is both Italian and French and the home made ravioli is off the scale. Ideally situated in St Helier and sensibly prices. In fact probably one of the best value for money restaurants on the whole island.
Restaurant Do Porto
Without a doubt THE best Portuguese restaurant we have been to. We like trying different European style restaurants when we go away, but this has definitely made us lovers of Portuguese cuisine. Everything about the experience was very enjoyable. I have even tried cooking some of the dishes on the menu since returning home, but I think I will leave it to the experts at Do Porto in future.
Look forward to seeing you again soon.
Bento
Please can you tell me if Bento has changed hands in the last year? If so is it still a Japanese restaurant? We used to go quite regularly when we were last in Jersey and we are coming back for a few weeks in June/July.
Channel Island Boat Sales
Very professional well run business that offers many other marine services, not just boat sales. Very experienced and patient owner is happy to help, and the after sales service first class. I would have no problems recommending Channel Island Boat Sales to anyone.
Channel Island Boat Sales
Great company to deal with, Nigel has a lifetime experience with boats and is happy to give educated advice to his clients, whether it be selling their boat or finding one for them.
Rosden Glass Fibre came to our rescue a few years ago on a sailing trip from Lymington. We needed some emergency repairs and they carried them out without any fuss and the job they did was top class workmanship. We are sailing across again this summer, hopefully we wont need their services this time, but it is very comforting to know that they are still up and running and no doubt continuing to deliver high class workmsnship.
Restaurant Do Porto
Totally agree with Karen's comments. The food and the atmosphere served up here is second to non. A really good find at sensible prices.
Coffee Republic
A realy vibrant and busy coffee house serving up excellent coffees and food, including breakfasts, salads, pastries etc. Also good location on King Street.
Seafish Café
Having tried and thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Seafood cafe in St Aubin and been told that this one in St Peter Port had the same owners, we had to give it a go. And we were delighted that the same standard of food was served up here. Love the photos on the adverts, they give an accurate picture of the restaurants.
Castle Quay Pharmacy
We needed a chemist on our last visit to Jersey and it was nice to see that you showcase this service on your guide. We got the directions from the advert and it was a nice touch that we could see the size of the chemist from the photos.
Meat & Eat
Probably our favorite eatery one our trip to Jersey. Lovely decor as you can see from the photos, and a great selection of goodies on the menu. Eat in or takeaway, the food was fantastic every time.
Kismet Cabana Kiosk
We have such great memories visiting Kismet Cabana. The beech is probably the best on the whole island and the atmosphere in the kiosk can be whatever you like. Serine in the mornings and can also be very vibrant in the evening. Look forward to re-visiting this summer for more fun and frivolities.
Restaurant Do Porto
We made a reservation here for a family get together meal after seeing the lovely photos that are on the listing. Its off the main street in a quiet side street there are two entrances, one for a café bar and the other for the restaurant. There were plenty of locals eating there (Always a good sign).
The restaurant serves up delicious Portuguese cuisine at affordable prices. It is a restaurant we intend visiting again on our next visit to Jersey.
Samphire
A pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings. The menu has plenty of options to suit all tastes, including plenty of vegetarian dishes.
The staff are obviously well trained and seem to take pride in their work.
La Taverne Restaurant
We discovered this great find on this guide and was drawn to it by the photos of the interior. At first we thought it was only Italian food, but we were pleasantly surprised that they also serve up French cuisine. Both the Italian and French meals are delightful and this is definitely on our visit again list next time we are in Jersey.
La Taverne Restaurant
Very nice Mediterranean restaurant with a definite Italian theme. Very helpful and cheery staff. Ideally located and a varied menu at sensible prices. A good find and worth visiting.
Samphire
Top Top Top cuisine served here and the decor is beautiful as you can see from the lovely photos. Its not one of the cheapest restaurants in Jersey, but you get what you pay for, as the saying goes. And you get a lot here, the service, food, surroundings, and atmosphere are all high class. If you appreciate a good meal the Samphire is the place to go.
G T Marine Jersey
These guys got me out of trouble a couple of years ago and as I am heading back to Jersey next summer it is somewhat comforting to see them in this guide. I hope I don't need their services this time, but if I do I know I will be in safe hands. Keep up the good work Guys!!
La Taverne Restaurant
When we came here there was a large group of around a dozen people or more. although this made for hard work for the staff, they didn't neglect us in any way and our service was fantastic.
Rubbish don't waste your money. Dropped a large drink all over my daughter didn't offer to help her. She sat there freezing. Didn't pay for gry cleaning. Got 2 meals wrong after requests. Hand dryer doesn't work in loos. Place looks tired and dirty.
Please be advised that St Helier Marina is closed for refurbishment until Mid-June – we have very limited space for visiting boats and no long term berths available at all.
Can you please put a note on your website to that effect?
Great informative video explaining the problems of osmosis and how to repair it. If your boat does have osmosis Rosden has to be your number one choice for a cure.
La Taverne Restaurant
We chose this restaurant on our last nighton the island, and what a great inpression it has left us with. We are planning to return to Jersey before Christmas and will be making a reservation here, but we wont be leaving it to the last night this time.
See you in December
Great bar and restaurant. Ok, not too close to the marina, but who wants to be in the marinaall the time. we loved the walk here and felt we had earned our food and drink, and also walked it off on the way home. Put this one on your list
An ideal hotel for any company sending workers to Jersey on contract work etc. Very good rates corporate rates and the rooms are self catering, with cookers, full size fridges, microwave etc. Ideal when you cant be eating out all the time. Pool table, swimming pool, bar, everything you need on a working trip.
If you want to "Push the Boat out" as they say, take time out and treat yourself or loved ones to a special treat. Everything here is to an extremely high standard. You can see the chefs working away in the spotless kitchen. The food is simply the best we sampled on Jersey, and we have sampled plenty. Its not a restaurant to go to if you are on a tight budget, but you get what you pay for, and here you get a hell of a lot for your money.
Best restaurant in Jersey??? Well we haven't found anything that matches Samphire, let alone surpass it.
An Italian restaurant situated in St Helier. Serves high end Italian food. Very clean and nicely lit inside. It was raining when we ate here, but it was still possible to have a drink outside as there is good overhead shelter. We loved our meal here and next time we feel the urge for an Italian meal, we will head straight over to Manos Bistro.
Loved this Thai restaurant. It serves superb Thai cuisine, all cooked and served by the Thai staff.
Not very big, but very cosy. We didnt need to book, but I think we were fortunate, so we would advise booking as its a popular restaurant.
Good Italian restaurant in St Helier Jersey. Plenty of room inside and a small terrace outside with cover in bad weather. Plenty of atmosphere without being rowdy. The food and and drinks are reasonably prices and the service is well above average. The food is of a very high standard and it is a restaurant that we are likely to recommend and also to come back again
This is an authentic Thai restaurant serving high end Thai food. it did intrigue us as to why the name Thai Smile? After we ate here, it all became very apparent. Everybody here has a smile on their face. Thank you sooooo much for tour hospitality and we promise to come and see you again on our next trip here.
Really nice restaurant specialises in Portuguese and Italian food. Located ideally in St Helier town centre just off the main street.
Additional seating outside. Good wine selection and all round good service.
Well worth a visit.
We love it
Stayed here 2 years ago and was looked after very well by the staff.
I am visiting Jersey again in a few weeks and didn't even think of booking a different hotel
The inlaws stayed here because there wasn't enough room on the boat. It was very competitively priced and we were delighted when we got them to the hotel.
Very helpful staff and the manageress made us feel very welcome.
To sum it up, great place to stay
Shey
Hi we are planning our trip to Jersey at the end of August. Would it be necessary to book, or is it possible to just walk in. There will be three of us.
I dont like picking a favourite restaurant, because i think its a little unkind on the others we have eaten in.. But gotta say this really is our favourite restaurant on this beautiful island. See you very soon.
Our first sailing experience on Jersey, and we are really impressed by the standard of restaurants here. Bass and Lobster is no exception. The scallops and other seafood dishes are amongst the best we have ever had. Its also nice to take a break from the marina life and see more of the island. We have promised ourselves to come here again soon
Great location, with limited parking. Fantastic value for money, If your travelling on a budget but want to stay in somewhere that is better than a guest house or B&B this is for you. Fully licenced bar, plenty of rooms, great breakfast and other meals with a swimming pool!! what more could you want.
Perfect
Stayed here while I was updating the Jersey Harbour Guide. The hotel is fantastic value for money. The staff headed by the lovely Christina make you feel very welcome. The rooms, dining area, bar etc. are spotlessly clean. The fact that there was a kitchen within my room really helped out with the costs. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone visiting.
I look forward to returning
Steve
Our friends stayed here as we couldnt accommodate them on the boat. They spoke very fondly of this place and the service. We are now considering telling all guests to book a room in future, as this makes it so much better for both us the boat owner and the guests themselves. We cant offer the kind of service they received.
The In-laws stayed here rather than the boat. We were extremely jealous and spent a lot of time here with them. Love the place and will advise others to do the same.
If like us, you want to get away from the marina scene, then come over here for a change (Its as good as a rest) we came here a couple of years ago and if its half as good now as it was then, its well worth a visit.
Whoo whoo!! Great to see Casa Mia on here. If you come to Alderney by boat, plane?, ferry, swim, or live here, just come and try it out. you will love it. xx

This place is ideal for those in a hurry or those that are not.
You can sit at the conveyor belt as long as you want( eating occasionally ) or be in and out in 5 minutes if in a hurry.
Sushi is delicious but remember to keep an eye on how many 'plates' you eat because you pay per plate and is not an all you can eat, it is very easy to get carried away.
Sampled a mixture of sushi here last week, everything off the belt was spot on and the Crispy Chili Squid directly cooked to order from the kitchen was
brilliant. Not forgetting my favourite BEEF TATAKI (lightly seared 21-day aged beef in zesty ponzu sauce)
Finished up with with a dessert that I think consisted of rice roll with passion fruit, do not hold me to this but I think it was not in dessert sect.
Worth asking them.
All in all a very memorable experience and will be going back very soon.
This place is fairly new to Jersey, but is a refreshing stylish little place and we probably would not of found it if it had not been for using H.Guides quite often especially seeing as it is a long way out of the centre.
We were over visiting some friends in St.Helier and were brought here for the right gear to go sailing with them.
Very impressed with the brands and the stock 10/10
St Hellier Marina have altered the traffic light display due to a large yacht running aground on the sill at the lock gates. The lights only display a red light when access is prohibited. The Green lights will now only be used after the boats draught has been assessed.

Bustling, lively and right in the centre of town, it makes a great spot
to stop for Japanese food!
Sit down at the conveyor belt, order yourself a green tea and watch the
sushi go by. Pick up what you want, pile up the plates and enjoy. It’s
so easy.
And it’s not just about the sushi either. There’s plenty of hot food,
including their famous katsu curry, yakitori skewers, gyoza dumplings,
teriyaki pork, tempura and some incredibly moreish noodle dishes – all
prepared to order by the Bento chefs. Team it all with a chilled Asahi
beer, a shot of sake or a glass of wine, and you’ve got the perfect
combination.
You can also get Bento to go with their deli takeaway where you can
choose from individually wrapped sushi, salads, miso soup and hot noodle
pots to go. A new welcome addition to Bento is the introduction of their
online ordering system - Click and Collect. Choose from their entire
menu and order at the click of a mouse and they’ll give you call after
few minutes to let you know when the order will be ready for collection!

MARINA GATE
The Marina pond is maintained at a level of 5 metres (16.5ft) above chart datum by means of a sill gate. International Port Traffic Signals and depth gauges show when entry and exit are possible. This can be taken as approximately 3 hours either side of high water, the actual period differing slightly with Springs and Neaps. A digital gauge showing the depth of water (in metres) above the sill gate is situated at the entrance to the Marina
ENTRY TO THE MARINA
When the Marina is accessible, craft will be directed by the Port Control signals—and also the Harbour Control launches at peak periods—to transit the Commercial harbour and proceed to the area reserved for visiting craft. Craft arriving when the sill gate is closed or when the main harbour is closed to pleasure craft for the movement of commercial shipping, traffic should proceed to the Yacht Basin which is situated on the starboard hand immediately before the Victoria Pierhead. Entry to La Collette Yacht Basin is available at all states of tide but caution should be used during spring tide low water periods where the approach channel fairway buoys should be followed.
Mont Orgueil Castle
Mont Orgueil Castle, or Gorey Castle as it was first known, has cast its imposing shadow over the beautiful fishing port of Gorey for more than 800 years. One of the finest examples of a medieval fortress in existence, Mont Orgueil is also a symbol of Jersey’s national identity and independent character.

Just returned home from our first trip to Jersey and we are wondering why we have never visited before. Theres so much to do and so close to home compared with our usual holiday destinations. Found this guide very helpful on our visit.
We are already planning our next trip hopefully for later this year. What a great find!
