Information
RYDE - ISLE OF WIGHT

Located on the beautiful north east coast, Ryde, with its miles of gorgeous sandy beaches and shallow water, is often referred to as the gateway to the Isle of Wight. This elegant seaside resort with its Victorian pier, magnificent Esplanade and wonderful gardens is the Island’s second largest town. Its busy, picturesque harbour welcomes pleasure craft of all shapes sizes and is linked to the mainland by ferries and hovercraft. It is understandably very popular with the yachting fraternity and has an excellent marina.

A favourite family holiday destination, Ryde has plenty to offer kids and adults alike, an ice rink, tenpin bowling, amusement park, boating lake, nightclub, fine dining, friendly pubs and wide range of superb sports facilities. It also has an almost surreal quality and it is not unusual to see large ships passing along the Solent as you shop down the High Street or Union Street. A short walk from the town centre you will find Appley Tower and Puckpool Park where kids can play to their hearts content whilst adults kick back and get on with the real business of holidaying.

An ideal place from which to explore the rest of this magical Island, Ryde is one of the most pleasantly satisfying and satisfyingly pleasant holiday destinations to be found anywhere in the UK

Stayed at Kasbah last week, nice Morrocan themed rooms ideal for short stay and crew accommadation as it is 5 minutes from the Harbour.
Also have large bar with outside Morrocan style smoking area and staff were brilliant.

Regular visitors
You could use more eating establishments on this page.
Ryde has loads to offer and is a regular haunt for tourists and boateys , and has more shops than Newport contrary to popular belief !!

Hi Joe
We have copied this from their website. Hope it helps.

"Flat batteries will be charged for harbour users whilst the harbour master is on duty. We are not able to charge these inside the harbour office for health and safety reasons but will endeavour to charge it for you outside the office"

We are coming over to Ryde Harbour tomorrow (Mon 2/9/13) from Gosport. I have been having trouble with my battery charger and therefore expect them to be flat by the time I get there.
Will there be a facility for me to charge them once I arrive at the harbour?
Thanks
Joe

Hired a car from 1st call. Will definitely make it our first call next time we are on this beautiful island. Great service and nice to get away from the marina and see the rest of the island.

We wanted to hire a car for our anual family holiday, and because we had a bad experience with car hire last year we decided to go with 1st Choice after seeing that you feature it on your harbour guide. We are happy to say that it all went smoothly and our faith in car hire has been restored.

French Franks Ryde by Mrs M RussellTurnbull
2.55pm stopped off for quick afternoon sandwich/coffee.
Half seating area closed, people seated in other half.
So i was more than annoyed when brusque greeting was "only take away, closing half thee"!!!
35 minutes time. So 10 mins for sandwich prep. 5 mins to make expresso...15 minutes to be eaten...5 mins to clear away...
Not exactly customer service here. Will go elsewhere when in Ryde or Newport.

The Duck Restaurant by Drew & Carl(Greysha)
We saw this restaurant last year on our visit to Ryde. It looked fantastic, but for some reason we walked onby and atesomewhere else. Now seeing the photos on here, it looks even better. We now wish we ate here that day. Anyway, suffice to say, we will be eating here on our next trip to Ryde next year. Keep you posted x

Nodes Point Holiday Park by Nikki
Being an owner at Nodes Point I love the views.
The beach at the bottom of the park is stunning and is my favourite place in the summer. My kids love the Krew Clubs and the ents team is second to none.
Better than being abroad as the weather is just as good and always lots to do always come home feeling relaxed and chilled
