We dry age and hang cuts for 20 days min. Pork and Lamb are sourced form the very best suppliers that can be found on the island of Bute and throughout Argyll. With an impressive award winning Sausage & Burger range along with an extensive range of traditional Scottish steak pies and mouth watering pastry products and well stocked deli, Macqueens are a one stop modern Butchers. A brief history Todays renowned business Macqueens of Rothesay opened its doors to trade customers in 1976. Founded by Alistair & Hazel Macqueen. The shop is now run by brothers David & Ronald Macqueen. With over 50 years Butchery experience between them along with their highly skilled staff, they have developed Macqueens into Rothesay’s premier Butchers and now one of Scotland top online Butchers.

At Kingarth, we strive to provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere epitomizing country inn traditions and the heritage of the area. Food is served all day every day from 12 noon until 9pm. Booking is not essential, but is recommended especially during peak times or for larger groups. Our team of Chefs prepare excellent quality dishes, in a wide variety of styles using fresh, local and Scottish produce whenever possible.
We take a very hands-on role in the running of Kingarth and take pride in employing a team of local staff to help us deliver a high standard of service.

Our restaurant and lounge have been fully refurbished in an elegant style with comfy leather chairs and period furniture.
The views north and south of the Kyles from this room are spectacular. Our Chef prepares fantastic fresh dishes using local game and fish products and ingredients from our home grown garden.
Bar meals and a la carte restaurant are available to residents and non-residents 7 days a week for lunch and dinners.

The SCOTTISH HONKY-TONK, also referred to as the SHT or SKONK, is located on the stunning Isle of Bute, just outside Rothesay, featuring country, blues, and rock music, various moonshines from Kentucky and South Carolina and a sizeable assortment of whiskies and other delectable beers and booze!
A HONKY-TONK is a US southern bar that provides country and blues music for the entertainment of its patrons, and the style of music played in such establishments. Bars of this kind were, and are, common in the South and Southwest United States. Before World War II, the music industry began to refer to hillbilly music being played from Texas and Oklahoma to the West Coast as “honky-tonk” music. In the 1950s, honky-tonk entered its golden age.

The Black Bull is a family friendly bar and restaurant in the Victorian seaside town of Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. This cosy and quaint pub, run by Angie and Scott, offers a wide range of real ales and good food and is situated across from Rothesay Marina.
Children are welcome until 8pm and we have live entertainment and karaoke most Saturdays. A free function room is also available for bookings.

The main lounge bar is a great place to meet up, serving coffee and bar meals from 5 pm to 8:30 pm Sunday to Thursday and from 5 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. After a day of exploring the Isle of Bute, you can enjoy a drink or a light snack in the hotel bar or soak up the views of Rothesay Bay from the terrace.
