Well we are back home now from our three months cruising holiday on our yacht Almida.
We spent almost six weeks cruising around the Channel Islands. We used the guide's and noticed that it seems customary to leave reviews on the businesses for future visitors.
Well we visited so many over this period of time, so we will be posting our reviews over a period of time.
It's trying to remember our experiences in each case.
Anyway we are going to give it a try.
Hope you're visitors to the guide's find our comments of use when making decisions on where to go.

I see you are updating your Channel Islands Harbour Guides. I have friends from Northern France who are sailing to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark etc. this Summer. We are going to visit them and help out crewing etc. but dont want to stay on the boat full time and are looking for accommodation. I see you have an accommodation feature on Harbourguides, is this for holiday makers or for crew members? We are on a tight budget and I think a feature on budget price hotels on your guides would be a goods idea.

Douro is the business, best food in a long time.

Harbour Gallery is one of the best Gallery/shops I have ever encountered.

I have happy time and food at Merchant Brasserie.

Whilst visiting a friend today, she took me to La Trelade Hotel Health Suite and I had a lovely time.
Nice and tranquil out there.

Southpier Marine was where we headed for all our bibs and bobs and had a good selection of deck shoes as well.
Chuffed to bits.

Met friends for drinks at the Savoy the other night and it was great, did not know you could come in without staying.

Have had a Great time at the Seascale hotel/restaurante.
Very good.

Marina Metro is a good place for lunch with excellent views at the rear and a short stroll under the overpass style tunnel.

First time for us at Jersey Adventures, had a blast.

St Hellier Marina have altered the traffic light display due to a large yacht running aground on the sill at the lock gates. The lights only display a red light when access is prohibited. The Green lights will now only be used after the boats draught has been assessed.

If you need a car or bike use Zebra they are fast, friendly and efficient.
We have been using them for last 4 years since finding them on this site. Ta

Went to Seascale yesterday and had fantastic lunch.

Hopefully coming over by boat on Wednesday. Is the marina open at all states of the tide for diesel fuel and what is the current price per litre?

Wet miserable Day yesterday,decided to try COASTERING. This involved swimming,climbing, and jumping off a Cliff called the RHINO. This was all done in 2 hours and was brilliant. If you are up for it call John at JERSEY ADVENTURES-01534 873074 or 07797727503.

There are visitors moorings at Gorey, but check the tides.

Would like to know if there are any decent Asian restaurants in St.Helier, and if so how far from marinas?

Hi Greg. We have a selection of hotels and guest houses on the site(click the "Accommodation" tab above.) We also have someone working in Jersey at the moment is updating our Harbourguide, so there will be more of a selection soon.

La Collette Marina has just had a complete refurb.New pontoons and new equipment. The berthing layout is not much different.

Sailing over to the Channel Islands in April 2012 for the Summer season.Have just discovered your web site and we are finding it very useful in our preparation, however how up to date are these "Guides" and why is there less information on Jersey than the other Islands considering its the biggest isle ??

Bistro Rosa
A beautiful little gem of a restaurant specialising in fish, although they serve up some superb meat dishes as well. They don't take email bookings, so the best way is by telephone. They are very responsive and try their best to get you a table. The restaurant is only small, but really quaint with a real relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen is open so you can see them working their magic. lovely restaurant and highly recommended by us!!

The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
We took some advice from some of the comments on here and took the walk to the Lookout from our hotel in St Helier. It really is a lovely walk and it became part of our holiday routine. We really felt like we had earned our meal and definitely enjoyed it more (And felt far less guilty) Lovely views and lovely people working there.

Arroz
We ate here on our last night in Jersey and it was a perfect ending to a fantastic holiday. We had hired bikes in the day so we had built up a good appetite. We went for the obvious choice of Paella and it was just what we needed. We accompanied it with some great wine and a couple of lagers. A perfect ending to one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had in many years. Thanks Jersey, we will be back!!!

Restaurant Do Porto
We have visited Portugal quite a few times as we used to have a mooring there, so we are quite knowledgeable on Portuguese food. We both agreed that Do Porto served up food as good as what we have ever had, even in Portugal. We only had time to eat there once as we were on a tight schedule, but rest assured we do plan to visit the islands again later this year and Restaurant Do Porto will be one of our fist ports of call!!

Relish Delicatessen
This is a fab place not only for nice sandwiches and general deli food, but they make up fantastic hampers that are ideal to take back to the boat. Great value!! perfect if you are planning a crossing or have guests on the boat. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!

Rosie's Tea Room
Lovely cafe with a good choice on the menu of typical English dishes. Choose a nice day if possible and sit outside, its a great people watching spot.

Manos Bistro
Perfect restaurant serving Portuguese food with genuine Portuguese staff (And probably owner) Ideal for couples or large parties as there is plenty of indoor seating. Its beautifully decorated as you can see from the photo tour on their information. There is also a small outdoor seating area. Typical service with a smile and Portuguese hospitality.

Domino Cabs
Good all round service, my wife and I had no problems with bookings and they turned up on time on both occasions.

Samphire
Probably THE best restaurant in Jersey and is quite famous amongst the locals. Obviously, as with all top restaurants you have to expect to pay for the excellent food and service, and although it is not the cheapest place to eat, its certainly not the most expensive either. We had a few meals in here with drinks and the average price was around £50 per head, which we thought was great value for money. Whatever your budget is, try to visit Samphire at least once whilst in Jersey, we really enjoyed the whole experience.

Jersey Inspired Jewellery
Your shop looks stunning in the photos, We are visiting Guernsey on part of a cruise in July. We are only on the island for a day, are there any commission peaces that you can do in this timescale?

Arroz Jersey
This must be reasonably new, because last time we were in Jersey it was a MacDonalds or Burger King. Arroz is definitely a massive improvement to the afore mentioned. We spend quite a lot of time in Spain and are very familiar with the food there. Arroz serves up some seriously good Spanish dishes including tapas and their Paella is also very good. Would we go again? definitely! we really enjoyed the whole experience.

Relish Delicatessen
This is so much more than a deli! The whole experience of shopping here leaves you feeling you have been treated like the only customer. we were on a self catering holiday and used Relish Delicatessen quite a lot, so much so that we even used them for our gifts to take home to friends and family, and they really appreciated them. Give it a try when in Jersey and you will know exactly what I mean.

We called in to Relish to get some provisions and we were blown away by the standard of produce sold here. Its quite an experience buying in this delightful deli. The guys are extremely helpful and obviously enjoy their job and are eager to offer any advice on the cheeses and their other products. This is a definite shop to visit when in Jersey, itsso much more than a deli.

I remember this guy from ages ago, he got us back under way and was a perfect gent to deal with even though he seemed rushed off his feet. I cant remember his name either?

Castle Quay Pharmacy
Nipped in for some medical provisions for a crossing to Gibraltar. The staff were really helpful and offered great advice on certain medicines for the trip. Big thank you to you all at Castle Quay Pharmacy.

Manos Bistro
Nice to eat in an authentic Portuguese restaurant whilst on holiday and Manos Bistro is certainly that. Portuguese owners and staff make you feel very welcome and the restaurant has plenty of tables. The atmosphere is nice and vibrant especially at the weekend. we had the Chateaubriand and it was perfect. Manos is definitely one to put on your must visit list when in Jersey.

Jersey Inspired
Lovely bespoke jewellery in St Helier. Nice chatty and informative staff that explain the history behind the jewellery. This makes it so much more interesting and is great to explain to people back home when they comment on it. We live close to the Firth of Forth which is famous for Puffins, so the Puffin earing's were the perfect gift for us to take home.

Coffee Republic
Good quick service with a nice choice of vegetarian snacks. I ordered a "Medium" sized coffee and it was the size of most large cups, so good value for money. Always seems to be very busy each time I have walked past, but I was served very quickly and found somewhere to sit.

Evolution Cycles Jersey
I cant praise these guys enough. We planned a family tour last summer and it went like clockwork. They paid extra attention to our children and made sure they safe and comfortable. The tour guide Mick made the whole experience really enjoyable for all of us on the tour. Well done guys and thanks!

The Rigatoni Jersey
Lovely Italian restaurant that's ideal for meeting up with friends and family for gatherings. I wouldn't recommend it for an intimate evening meal with a loved one, but if you want some good old Italian cuisine in a lively environment with plenty going on and decent prices and service, then look no further than The Rigatoni.

Lovely jewellery shop, fun and different! My daughter bought a Jersey granite fitflop necklace, myself a Ormer shell bracelet. We absolutely love them! Very friendly assistant, good luck with your future plans! A big thank you to the owner ( she know why).

Restaurant Do Porto
Love this restaurant and we always have at least one meal here on our trips to Jersey. It has a Portuguese and Mediterranean menu and serves up fabulous dishes at sensible and affordable prices. One to put on your list when in Jersey.

Castle Quay Pharmacy
Nice touch recommending a pharmacy on here. We looked it up on the search and the directions from Google maps were easy to follow and the Pharmacy itself is well stocked with friendly employees that offer excellent advice. As we are getting on in years its very comforting to know that Castle Quay Pharmacy are here on our frequent visits and help is at hand if needed.

Manos Bistro
A very nice Portuguese restaurant situated on Bath Street. Very polite and friendly staff and a well thought out and varied menu. The restaurant is quite large and beautifully decorated. We went on a Saturday and although it was busy we manged to get a table for four. We had the Chateaubriand and it was perfect. They have a good selection of wines. If you are not familiar with Jersey and want directions, just ask for the Bronze Cows, and Manos is next to them.

Jersey Inspired
We had a lovely break on Jersey and saw Jersey Inspired on this website and the photos looked very inviting. We called in and the lady was very helpful and explained the history and the reasoning behind each piece of jewellery. I particularly liked the Jersey Bean necklaces. My husband suggested that we come back later in the week and choose one. However, he never mentioned it again and we walked past the shop many times and I was hoping he would suggest we go in and buy the neckless I had wanted, but he just walked past. I put this down to perhaps he was struggling with finances etc. My birthday was ten days after we returned to England and to my immense surprise and excitement my husband presented me with a beautiful Bean necklace. I absolutely love it and a massive thanks to the staff for helping him choose such a beautiful piece of jewellery.

The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
What a lovely restaurant, bar cafe situated very close to the beach. For those of you who like a nice walk (Its flat no hills) not far from St Helier centre and a lovely stroll along the coastline. (It takes aprox 30 mins) You feel you have deserved the delicious dessert after the walk. The views, staff, service and food are all fantastic. We were staying near the harbour in St Helier and are in our early seventies and walked here four times during our stay and went home feeling fantastic. See you all next year.

Bistro Rosa
Found this little gem on this website and liked the look of the photos and the positive reviews, plus the fact we were looking for a seafood restaurant, Bistro Rosa seemed the obvious choice. And what a great choice it turned out to be! Its obviously a family run business and the owners make sure you get the best service. We had a Seafood Plate and Oysters, the portion is very generous and delicious. The desserts are also delicious. If you are looking for a nice cosy restaurant and atmosphere that serves up the finest seafood dishes, look no further than Bistro Rosa!

The Rigatoni Jersey
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of service and food in Rigatoni. We do enjoy Italian food, so although we were in a bit of a rush we decided at very short notice to nip in here and get some food. We only had a couple of pasta dishes, but they really were delicious. It does have a kind of touristy feel to it, but at the end of the day we were on holiday so no problem there. We also accompanied our meal with a bottle of wine, which was also very nice, but slightly expensive, but not enough to break the bank.

Bond Street Social
Lovely restaurant and wine bar. Down the railed stairway is the wine bar. This is a great chillout place, but can probably get very busy, it was mid week when we visited. We were that impressed that we decided to book a table in the restaurant upstairs. We hadn't pre-booked, but were able to get a table, but I think we were lucky so I would advise to book in advance.
The whole meal and experience was right on the mark and its somewhere we will re-visit when we are next in jersey.

Bistro Rosa
Simply the best fish restaurant on the island. Only small so I would advise to book in advance. fantastic value for money and the service is also perfect. A definite keeper.

Very disappointed there was a no living history today. Took the grandsons but the highlight for them was missing.

Samphire
Lovely restaurant elegantly decorated with perfect lighting, making you feel like you are in a high end restaurant. the staff are very welcoming. It was a Friday when we visited and it was extremely busy. however the staff coped well and we were looked after.
The food was no letdown. We stuck to seafood. The scallops were done to perfection. The most surprising thing was the price. Although not the cheapest of restaurants its certainly not the most expensive. But taking into account the food, service and ambiance, its definitely great value for money.

Coffee Republic
Ideally located on King Street St Helier, which is pretty much the main street on the island. Great coffee and perfect for meeting up. Lots of opportunity to people watch as this is a very busy street.

The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
We came to Jersey on a recce before sailing here in the Summer. It was a wet windy day and we had a walk down the prom to The Lookout. After seeing the photos, we did want to see it on a sunny day, however when we entered , the wood burner was on, the welcome was very warm and genuine, and the view was still stunning as the heavens opened up and the sea looked stormy. We decided to keep it simple and had a couple of delicious burgers washed down with some excellent wine. We spent a memorable afternoon/evening in a very comfortable and relaxing bar restaurant.

A fantastic range of bikes to suit everyone. Very friendly staff that make more effort to ensure that the experience is a pleasant one. Its definitely a great way to see parts of the island.

I visit here regularly when in Jersey. The food is just that bit different and always amazing. They have a well priced drinks menu and the views are fantastic from pretty much anywhere you sit. It’s lovely sitting outside in the summer but even if the weathers not great it has a lovely vibe inside too.
The staff are always incredibly friendly and always make us feel really welcome but it’s not just us, they seem to just be happy and friendly with everyone.

Izakaya Jersey
We passed this restaurant last year and it hadn't quite opened yet. there seemed to be quite a lot of work going on. Is it now opened?

I have visited Manos Bistro many times now and the whole experience is great. The staff, the ambiance and the Portuguese cuisine are all 100% You are always made to feel very welcome and they never rush you.

The Lookout Beach Cafe & Restaurant
Lovely beach bar restaurant located a nice walk from St Helier centre. Lovely views of the beach and plenty of seating, both inside and out. It was out of season when we visited, so we didnt need to book, but I would suspect booking in the Summer would be advisable.
When we called in we had a few drinks and we chose the burgers for our food. They were delightful and we didn't leave anything. The staff were quite young and very polite and helpful.
A great experience and one we will repeat.

What a find. A great night in a relaxed atmosphere. Great food/wine, fantastic bar and wonderful hosts. Would highly recommend.

La Taverne Restaurant
We absolutely loved this restaurant and the staff. The food is both Italian and French and the home made ravioli is off the scale. Ideally situated in St Helier and sensibly prices. In fact probably one of the best value for money restaurants on the whole island.

Channel Island Boat Sales
Very professional well run business that offers many other marine services, not just boat sales. Very experienced and patient owner is happy to help, and the after sales service first class. I would have no problems recommending Channel Island Boat Sales to anyone.

Rosden Glass Fibre came to our rescue a few years ago on a sailing trip from Lymington. We needed some emergency repairs and they carried them out without any fuss and the job they did was top class workmanship. We are sailing across again this summer, hopefully we wont need their services this time, but it is very comforting to know that they are still up and running and no doubt continuing to deliver high class workmsnship.

Coffee Republic
A realy vibrant and busy coffee house serving up excellent coffees and food, including breakfasts, salads, pastries etc. Also good location on King Street.

GRP Marine Jersey
A very professional and reliable service for for any GRP repairs and maintenance.

Samphire
A pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings. The menu has plenty of options to suit all tastes, including plenty of vegetarian dishes.
The staff are obviously well trained and seem to take pride in their work.

Samphire
Top Top Top cuisine served here and the decor is beautiful as you can see from the lovely photos. Its not one of the cheapest restaurants in Jersey, but you get what you pay for, as the saying goes. And you get a lot here, the service, food, surroundings, and atmosphere are all high class. If you appreciate a good meal the Samphire is the place to go.

Rubbish don't waste your money. Dropped a large drink all over my daughter didn't offer to help her. She sat there freezing. Didn't pay for gry cleaning. Got 2 meals wrong after requests. Hand dryer doesn't work in loos. Place looks tired and dirty.

Great informative video explaining the problems of osmosis and how to repair it. If your boat does have osmosis Rosden has to be your number one choice for a cure.

La Taverne Restaurant
We chose this restaurant on our last nighton the island, and what a great inpression it has left us with. We are planning to return to Jersey before Christmas and will be making a reservation here, but we wont be leaving it to the last night this time.

Good meeting place easyto find and serves great coffee. Just what you need to kickstart the day off.

Ambiente familiar, muy confortable y el vino muy bueno

An ideal hotel for any company sending workers to Jersey on contract work etc. Very good rates corporate rates and the rooms are self catering, with cookers, full size fridges, microwave etc. Ideal when you cant be eating out all the time. Pool table, swimming pool, bar, everything you need on a working trip.

An Italian restaurant situated in St Helier. Serves high end Italian food. Very clean and nicely lit inside. It was raining when we ate here, but it was still possible to have a drink outside as there is good overhead shelter. We loved our meal here and next time we feel the urge for an Italian meal, we will head straight over to Manos Bistro.

Good Italian restaurant in St Helier Jersey. Plenty of room inside and a small terrace outside with cover in bad weather. Plenty of atmosphere without being rowdy. The food and and drinks are reasonably prices and the service is well above average. The food is of a very high standard and it is a restaurant that we are likely to recommend and also to come back again

This is an authentic Thai restaurant serving high end Thai food. it did intrigue us as to why the name Thai Smile? After we ate here, it all became very apparent. Everybody here has a smile on their face. Thank you sooooo much for tour hospitality and we promise to come and see you again on our next trip here.

Great location, with limited parking. Fantastic value for money, If your travelling on a budget but want to stay in somewhere that is better than a guest house or B&B this is for you. Fully licenced bar, plenty of rooms, great breakfast and other meals with a swimming pool!! what more could you want.

Our friends stayed here as we couldnt accommodate them on the boat. They spoke very fondly of this place and the service. We are now considering telling all guests to book a room in future, as this makes it so much better for both us the boat owner and the guests themselves. We cant offer the kind of service they received.

We have now stayed at a few Dolan Hotels and we think they are perfect for us. There are a few on this Island. I dont think anyone will be dissapointed if you try this hotels for and a smile.
