Located in the quiet harbourside village of Saint Mawes in Cornwall, The Victory Inn is the only traditional pub in the village.
With up to 50 covers over two floors, we cater for larger groups and parties as well as smaller dinner parties.
We are a dog friendly pub (we have two of our own!) so you can bring your pooch along. We don’t allow them in the restaurant upstairs.
We can fill up quickly, so we do recommend booking especially larger parties.

At The Red Lion, dining is a celebration of food and friends, family and flavours.

Restaurants

The preparation of exquisite food at The Idle Rocks (Two AA Rosettes since 1992) is a well established tradition, born from the rich availability of locally-grown Cornish produce, including early season fruit and vegetables, fresh sea fish and the best quality meats and poultry.
Dinner at "The Water's Edge" Restaurant St Mawes is a very special occasion. All tastes are considered in creating the day's choice, in which the specialities of the season are highlighted in Head chef's irresistible style. Imaginative Vegetarian dishes are also prepared if required.
Breakfast is traditional with a touch of flair - enjoy dishes such as Smoked Haddock with Poached Egg, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Egg or if you prefer, light and continental. During the day, the "Terrace" is the ideal place to enjoy lunch or a cream tea in the sunshine as you watch the world float by.
Lunch, morning coffee and afternoon tea are available. Non residents are welcome. In the summertime, the terrace is the place to be, with it's front row view of the activity on the water. There is plenty of space for relaxing at any time of day and informal meals are available. Lunch is a most enjoyable affair particularly on the hotel's waterside terrace in fair weather. The Waters Edge is a beautiful St Mawes Restaurant. The Two AA Rosettes dining experience is second to none.

Visitor Attractions
St Mawes Castle, owned by English Heritage, is positioned on the western point of the village. The castle was built in 1538 by Henry VIII after a confrontation with Spanish and French warships in Falmouth Bay.
The St Mawes Castle was built with sea defense in mind and as such did not offer much protection from land based forces. During the civil war in 1646 the St Mawes governor surrendered immediately with resistance as he knew defense from the land side was hopeless.
Opposite Falmouth bay lies Pendennis Castle that has a more defensive and desirable position, this became the main fort in the area and the St Mawes Castle was left without any further developments or alterations.
St Mawes Castle has always, however, been an important gun emplacement right up to the end of the Second World War.
Today the St Mawes Castle is frequented by visitors coming to the village and is also used as an excellent venue for wedding functions. With marquees on the front lawns and the inside of the castle also used, it represents a wedding venue that is able to support a large number of guests.
Takeaway Food

We also serve delicious falafel boxes, fresh and tasty salads, very generous doorstep sandwiches and a mouthwatering selection of local ice cream both dairy and dairy free! We can also provide hampers with advance notice and bulk orders. We are perched right on the harbour so no fuss with collection, our service is bespoke, we look forward to serving you.

Accommodation, Private Functions

The Idle Rocks sits on the edge of St Mawes harbour wall in the quaint fishing village of St Mawes, on the tip of the Roseland Peninsular, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The view from the hotel is the Cornish dream brought to life: a small, idyllic harbour, narrow lanes of tidy fisherman's cottages, green fields that slope down to the sea and sandy beaches. St Mawes is located on the southern coast of the UK's mildest county, where daffodils begin to bloom in January, this makes the Idle Rocks a destination to visit all year around. Within the Roseland Peninsula, the Idle Rocks Hotel in St Mawes truly is a beautiful example of a luxury Cornwall Hotel.
Aside from its enviable location the hotel is a magnet for discerning diners, attracted by its reputation for superb cuisine as well as those simply seeking to relax in its friendly ambience and comfortable accommodation.
The terrace is simply the best place around to sit and watch life on the water of this bustling harbour in summer. In winter, the theatre of water on display (compliments of Mother Nature), provides a natural symphony of entertainment - best enjoyed from the comfort of the hotel lounge, bar and restaurant.
