Restaurants
Our restaurant recalls the name of a ferry that used to cross over between Gozo and Malta in the 20th century. It was bought by Joseph Gasan in 1947. It was modernized into a passenger ferry until the Gozo mail service was introduced in 1950. On 23rd January, the Bancinu broke its moorings and was driven ashore at Mgarr during a storm. After the Royal Navy salvage vessel Uplifter salvaged the Bancinu on 10th February, it was towed to the Grand Harbour. Later in December it was sold to a Greek marine company and was renamed Athinai.

Our rib range are second to none and built to last, GRP structural chassis, moulded hulls and decks mean that with a Menai Rib you know your hull interior is not degrading from the first time you put it in the water.
Menai also build the Sea Ranger Rigid tubed boat. Extremely stylish and purpose full. It is a positive buoyancy boat that is equal to any rib, but the solid tubes do not puncture, and contain storage hatches. The benefits to this boat are numerous and we have yet to find a down side.
Menai Marine are also builders of modern fishing and sports boats. Continuously developing but all in keeping with the same philosophy, 4x4’s for the sea. With comfort and style.

Our wine menu features innovative concepts such as a wide selection of wines available by the glass, or served in 500ml carafes, as opposed to the archetypal half-bottle selections. Another interesting and rare feature is our Coravin – a tool that extracts a glass of wine without opening the bottle. This way you can have a taste of the finest wines on offer without breaking the bank! You’ll also notice that our wines are displayed differently too – focusing on the palate of the wine, rather than its region. A favourite of visitors and locals for more than 25 years, Tmun (formerly at Xlendi) is nowadays tucked away on the marina road behind a row of colourful Gozitan fishing boats.
Leli is the supreme front-of-house man and oversees a team of outstandingly friendly and attentive waiting staff. Wife Jane, best fish cook on the island, created the dishes and son Paul has inherited her passion and developed her range. He works behind a window in full view of the diners – a sure sign of confidence. A choice of meat dishes is available but fish has always been the speciality, usually grilled, al sale (baked in salt) or cartoccio (in foil with gozo olive oil and herbs). And with local fishermen constantly padding barefoot across the street to deliver their daily catch it could hardly be fresher. The bouillabaisse, served for two to share, has been a constant preference for regulars. As has Jane’s delightful cheesecake and the array of home-made ice creams.

The Mgarr Marina consists of 208 berths. The Marina provides a perfect stop-over for anyone visiting Gozo or cruising around the Maltese Islands. The island is a third of the size of Malta, but greener and more rural. Its landscape has hills and deep
valleys as well as rugged cliffs, which give natural protection to the island's small harbours and inlets. Little wonder it has become known as an island of charm and beauty.
