Gibraltar National Day is celebrated every year on the 10th of September and this year is no exception. It is the British overeseas territory of Gibraltar official national day and commemorates Gibraltars 1st sovereignty referendum of 1967. In simple terms Gibraltars voters were given the choice of British or Spanish sovereignty. They chose British.
Getting away from the history side of things, the national Day is a fun packed fiesta with music and entertainment, a real fun packed fiesta where nearly everyone dresses in red and white. If you have never witnessed the national day, we at Harbourguides strongly advise that you give it a go, the atmosphere is electric, the crowd are there for fun and enjoyment and there is something fo all age groups. But remember to pack your red and white costume.
