Despite efforts by Alderney States to set up a meeting with Guernsey’s Policy & Resources Committee to discuss the island’s air links, they have been met with silence.

Policy and Finance president James Dent said they are getting fed up with the time it has taken to resolve the public service obligation tender process for the Guernsey-Alderney and Alderney-Southampton routes.

Alderney States received an official message from Guernsey on Tuesday, along with those who had tendered for the PSO, that the matter had been passed to P&R, which will take a report to the States in the first quarter of next year.

‘There is confusion, but we’ve not been told that the PSO process has come to an end,’ said Mr Dent. ‘We understand that the matter has been handed to Policy & Resources.

‘I’m not happy that the process is taking so long. We still have to get summer timetables for Aurigny on their website.’

He said that the States had offered to come to Guernsey to discuss matters with P&R: ‘They’ve not taken up our offer,’ said Mr Dent.

‘We first made the offer about three weeks ago and repeated it about a week ago.’

P&R and Economic Development were approached for commentabout the meeting offer and to try and further clarify the PSO situation, but neither will say more while the process is ongoing.
