YVES ROSSY
Swiss adventurer Yves Rossy known as Jetman has completed an incredible flight in his jet suit near Mount Fuji Tokio.
Yves custom built jet suit comes with four carbon-Kevlar jet engines housed in a backpack, weighing 60kg, and the jetwings span about 2metres.
Jetman reached speeds of up to 300 KM per hour while completing nine flights around the mountain between 28th October and 3rd November 2013.He dived from a helicopter and the flights lasted around ten minutes before he parachuted back down from 800 metres.
Yves said: “It’s a fantastic privilege to be a little mosquito flying in front of that big mountain”
Adding: “You feel that you have pressure everywhere, and that’s the magic moment. Because full thrust like that, you are aerodynamic and it’s like a big hand on your back and yes! It holds. And you fly.”
Other flight paths achieved by the Swiss daredevil include The Grand Canyon, The English Channel, Rio de Janeiro and his more local Swiss Alps.
So what does Yves do when not jet packing around the world? Well he’s a captain with Swiss International Airlines.
Well done Yves, the world needs pioneers like this.
