Armel Le Cleac'h has won the 2016-17 Vendee Globe. The French yachtsman set a new world record completing the non stop round the world solo race in 74 days three hours and 35 minutes
British sailor Alex Thomson pushed him hard but just couldn’t catch him at the end, finishing second. His time was 74 days 19 hours 35 minutes and 15 seconds.
It was Thomson’s fourth attempt at the prestigious race and was hoping to be the girst Briton to win it.
Great effort and well done to each and every competitor. It takes a special kind of person to even consider competing in this event.
