ImageSunday 9th November sees the start of the Vendee Globe. This year the worlds most gruelling yacht race is subscribed to its capacity of 30 competitors all of whom will take part in the traditional Sunday Procession prior to setting off. The ceremony in which the entrants leave the pontoon in Port Olona and sail through the harbour entrance channel between Les Sables d’Olonne and la Chaume is kept to a precise, pre-planned order and very tight schedule with only four minutes between each craft setting sail.
