Tidal lagoons to generate electricity

A series of six tidal lagoons is planned for construction in the UK with the aim of generating 8% of the country’s electricity. Four will be in Wales, one in Somerset and one in Cumbria. The plan is to construct 22km breakwaters housing 90 turbines powered by the rising and falling tides.
