Boat Safety Scheme offers guidelines on petrol refuelling
Following three serious incidents which left 10 people injured and damaged eight boats, the Boat Safety Scheme has issued new guidelines.
Petrol spilt or exposed to air can form a gas cloud which can settle in the interior of boats forming a potentially explosive hazard. Care must be taken not to decant fuel from containers on the boat, also to close all windows, doors etc whilst refuelling, turn off cooking appliances and any other potential ignition sources, stay alert
