Successful Man Poem

The Successful Man
He got a yacht in the Med
And a successful business too
But is this man happy?
I’ll leave that to you.
He wears a Rolex on his wrist
And signs his cheques with a Mont Blanc pen
And when he has a drink
It’s Grey Goose, and Champagne now and then.
He fought all his life
He had to be tough
But times have taken their toll
And now he’s had enough.
You never be big, dad said
But fight your corner kid
And look after your sister
And this he always did.
But now getting older
And new kids are now the best
He just wants to take a back seat
And chill out and rest.
But why the change you may ask
This guy’s lucky, he shouldn’t give a toss
But hang on there a minute,
You don’t know this guy’s his loss.
Some kids have a tough upbringing
With parents that don’t care
So when you lose one of them
It’s something you can bear.
But what if you had the best
The best parents that could ever be
To loose just one of these
A bright future you would never see.
His Mum has now left him
A distant star in the sky
Oh how he misses her
She’s not here now, but why?
And his dad, who is the greatest
Does not really know how things are
If only he could communicate with him
He could say he’s the best dad by far.
So when you here of him here and there
On his yacht laughing in the sun
Is he really happy?
Or missing someone.
This successful man
Has his problems too
Is he really happy?
I’ll leave that to you.
