Beware of floating shipping containers next time you are out to sea. These giant metal structures, sometimes packed with luxury goods, are too easily washed overboard on a stormy night and are not the ideal thing to run into in your cruising yacht.
On the other hand, if you can tow it home you could always turn it into a houseboat, as featured in a recent TV programme where a desperate home owner parked one on a floating pontoon in Bedford marina, having converted it into his “dream home”.
