SPACE CHEESE CRASH LANDS

Sunday August 2nd, 2009
ImageA 300kg block of cheddar that was sent into the upper atmosphere aboard a weather balloon in celebration of the moon landing celebrations has been found in a garden in Buckinghamshire. The cheese was launched in Pewsey, Wiltshire on Tuesday soon after which the balloon’s GPS system broke down. When a resident of Cressex found the cheese it was still in one piece and they took it to the local police station.

Spokesman for Shepton Mallet's West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers, Dom Lane said. 'I am driving back from High Wycombe with the cheese now. I may try a bit to see if it has matured at high altitude and then it will probably go into a glass case at our production offices.'
