ROYAL OPENING FOR YACHT FACTORY
Royal yacht racing enthusiast, Princess Anne was at Northshore Shipyard on Monday to open the new Southerly factory. During the visit she met the company’s CEO and Sales Manager who accompanied her on a tour of the 13000sq ft facility and showroom. She also enjoyed a champagne reception and announced a donation to her chosen charity, Sailabilit.
MD, John Warne said of the new factory, “These are very exciting times for Southerly. The new factory has given us the extra capacity we need for our increased demand. Exports account for approximately 40% of our market and we currently employ over 160 staff on two sites. We also offer modern apprenticeships for selected individuals as we believe it is essential to train a new generation of people to uphold the traditions of the company, whilst also ensuring continuity and success into the future.”
