SEA SHADOW UP FOR SALE

NO TAKERS FOR TOP-SECTRET GIVE-AWAY
After three years trying to simply give away one of the US Navy’s most exciting and successful top-secret vessels it looks like the 24 year-old stealth ship Sea Shadow is destined for the scrap yard. With the vessel no longer needed by the navy they have been trying to give it away since 2006 but the only interested party has been a naval museum in Providence, Rhode Island whose entire exhibition consists of a Russian submarine that sank during a storm in 2007.
Built under stringent security in 1985, the 170ft Sea Shadow was an incredible piece of military equipment, able to sneak up on other vessels completely undetected in virtually any weather conditions (up to at least 12m swells).
'We operated at night with impunity. We would disappear and sneak up on whomever we wanted,' said one of the ships former officers. She was so successful that she didn’t come to light until 1993 when the navy themselves lifted the lid on the Sea Shadow project.
But at the time of writing no-one wants her. She even comes complete with her own submersible dry dock which will also be destined for the scrap yard if a new home isn’t found soon.
Come on someone. Why not turn her into a floating theme hotel and sneak up on ocean liners.
