Preventing Oily Discharge from the Bilge

Oily discharge from the bilge is hazardous to marine life and the environment in general. It can be prevented by keeping your engine well tuned and being aware of oil or fuel leaks. By securing an oil absorbent pad or pillow in the bilge and under the engine to catch any potential drips you can prevent transferral. These should be checked regularly and disposed of at a marina hazardous waste collection centre.
