The RNLI inshore lifeboat based at Rye Bay and the RNLI all-weather lifeboat based at Hastings were sent to help a sailor who had recently purchased a 20ft Colvic motor sailer. After the engine failed and the boat began taking on water, the anchor also failed to hold and the vessel was driven onto the beach in rough weather. Fortunately his vhf radio was working and he was able to call for help.
