PEDALO THIEF

Wednesday January 27th, 2010
A NOT VERY FASY GETAWAY
A suspected burglar was arrested on Lake Tarpon when his escape vehicle, a pedalo, broke down and he had to call 911. It is believed that the thief was disturbed whilst trying to break into a nearby house. However he had only pedalled 200yards into the lake when the getaway vessel ceased to function.
According to a witness, 'He was screaming like he was scared to death. I don't think he knew how to swim.'
He was finally apprehended by Officers from Pinellas County Sheriff's Office using a motorboat. Spokesman for the Sheriff’s office, Sgt Tom Nestor said, 'I've been doing this job for 27 years and I've never heard of anybody trying to get out in an open lake in a pedal boat to run from us.'
