NEW COUNTRIES TO BE BUILT BY PAY PAL TYCOON

PayPal tycoon Peter Thiel has announced a plan to build his own countries constructed on gigantic floating platforms in international waters. The 43 year old is funding a project intending to create new societies run according to Libertarian ideals.

A prototype ‘island’ is set to be built off San Francisco next year for which Mr Thiel has invested £763,000 into the Seasteading Institute who are behind the plan to build floating nations.

The online billionaire said, 'There are quite a lot of people who think it's not possible. That's a good thing... We don't need to really worry about those people very much, because since they don't think it's possible they won't take us very seriously... And they will not actually try to stop us until it's too late.'

Seasteading is run by Patri Friedman, the grandson of Nobel prize-winning economist Milton Friedman and claim that building in the ocean 'is the only option to create new societies on Earth'.
