PAPA DELTA FOOD CRISIS MID ATLANTIC
Cumbrian charity rowers Chris and Matthew Cleghorn had to call in assistance half way across the Atlantic after they were swamped in heavy seas and their food supply became contaminated. The ex Royal Marines appealed to Falmouth Coastguards who sent the yacht ‘White Whisper’ to their aid.
The 45ft yacht had previously contacted the coastguard following problems caused by storm damaged steering gear. Fortunately she was following roughly the same route and, despite being several hundred miles behind, was able to catch up with the ‘Papa Delta’, and give the brothers enough food to complete the 2,535 mile row.
