One day in August….
The Italian coastguard and navy rescued 3,000 migrants from a variety of unseaworthy fishing boats and vessels, in danger of sinking off the coast of Libya.
In 2014, over 170,000 migrants landed in southern Italy’s ports after being rescued in the Mediterranean and 2015 sees increasing numbers entering Europe through Italy and Greece, whilst over 2,300 people have died at sea in the attempt.
