OCEAN TRUST 50 YEAR CELEBRATION

Wednesday October 20th, 2010
50 YEAR CELEBRATION FOR OCEAN YOUTH TRUST
Saturday 16th October sees the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Ocean Youth Trust at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, bringing together 400 people who have been involved with the charity since its birth in 1960.
The OTYS was set up to help disadvantaged children experience sailing with a view to improving social skills and confidence. Over the last half century the organisation has taken literally thousands of children, from all backgrounds out, to sea for a lifetime experience.
One of the main attractions of the event will be ‘Duet’, one of the organisations original vessels which will be open to the public alongside ‘John Laing’, the 72ft ketch that serves as the OYTS’s current vessel. Libby Purves is amongst the speakers with food meals and music featuring throughout the day.
