OCC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUNG SAILORS

With more and more young people becoming interested in sailing The Ocean Cruising Club has launched a programme offering scholarships to gain experience of long distance sailing. The bursaries will fund 2/3 of successful applicants’ total cruise costs up to the maximum limit of available funds.

The OCC are looking for two young sailors, of any nationality, aged between 18 and 25 and two highly qualified members of the OCC have volunteered there time and births aboard their vessels for the programme.

Coordinator of the programme, Mark Holbrook said, 'This is a truly unique opportunity for young sailors to put some blue water miles on their sailing resumes while benefiting from the expertise of these very experienced OCC skippers who are willing to share their knowledge. Our results in the programme have been very encouraging. We are hoping to inspire a new generation of young people to sail beyond the horizon with confidence.'

The deadline for entry is May 1st 2013 and interested parties should email the OCC: secretary@oceancruisingclub.org

Details can also be found on their website. Good luck!
