Monday August 24th, 2009
Image.Commonly used when describing someone who is determined to get what he or she wants make that intention very clear, nailing one’s colours to the mast means exactly what it says on the page. Therefore flags were often literally nailed to the mast to make them difficult to extricate and symbolize the crew’s resolve never to surrender.
