NO SEX PLEASE WERE CHINESE
Forget Disney Land… Love Land is the place to go in China… or at least it would have been if prudish officials hadn’t declared it vulgar and decided to have it torn down. And all this before the first punters even get through the turnstile. The Chongqing based sex theme park was due to open in October and was aimed at ‘improving sex education and the sex life of visitors’.
The Love Land’s owners have been accused by officials as being 'interested only in profiting from sensationalism,' and called the proposed displays of giant genitalia, naked bodies and exhibition on the history of sex, 'vulgar, ill-minded and misleading'
However the park's manager, Lu Xiaoqing prior to the park’s demolition, 'Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it… We are building the park for the good of the public. I have found that the majority of people support my idea, but I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty.'
Sorry Mr Lu, as a broad minded, well travelled European I do sympathise with your ideals, but a thirty feet high rotating statue of the lower half of a woman wearing a thong!!? I’m just not convinced you thought this through very well.
