LEUKAEMIA SURVIVOR SETS SAIL

Thursday March 31st, 2011
LEUKAEMIA SURVIVOR SETS SAIL IN AROUND BRITAIN BID.
Leukaemia survivor Oliver Rofix has set off on his bid to sail solo around Britain and raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Marrow Trust. He left St. Katharine Docks, London at 9.30am today.
Oliver is the only known survivor of an extremely rare and aggressive form of the disease. His survival is thanks to one of only two possible donors on the 9-million strong Anthony Nolan Trust register. He will sailing anti-clockwise around Britain in his self-restored 18ft Valiant sloop the ‘Jolly Olly’ and hopes to encourage others who have suffered similar setbacks in their lives to achieve personal goals. He also hopes to raise awareness of the trust and recruit more bone marrow donors.
