KILLER SHRIMPS

The RYA is opposing restrictions preventing boat owners hosing off their boats in South East England, which has been affected by the drought. Their main fear is that trailer sailors will not clean their boats and will therefore spread “killer Shrimps” from one slipway to another. These “Killer Shrimps” Prey on other native species. If the boats aren’t cleaned these minute shrimp like species can get a free ride to different locations.
We think it’s great that the RYA fight the corner of the pleasure sailors, but surely they should encourage the boat owners to act responsibly by getting stuck in with a bucket of water a sponge and plenty of elbow grease.
