Legendary TV chef, boozer and Strangler’s fan, Keith Floyd has died of a heart attack following a blow out night of good food and fine wine. Floyd had been on a birthday celebration for his confidante Celia Martin eating Oysters, Shrimp and Partridge all washed down with Champagne cocktails and large quantities of red and white wine.
When he returned home he settled down to watch a TV documentary about his reconciliation with his estranged daughter Poppy but unfortunately he suffered a heart attack about an hour before the programme ‘Keith Meets Keith’ (hosted by Keith Allen) started.
Floyd was pronounced dead at Mrs Martins house after paramedics spent 45minutes attempting to resuscitate him. He was 65.
Celia Martin had this to say about her close and dear friend, “It was my 65th birthday yesterday and we started off by going to see the specialists to do with his cancer. He had some very good news and he was very optimistic of his chances of beating it... We then went to have a pub lunch in Lyme Regis and he was on good form. He was on good form. He was feeling marvellous. He said ‘I have not felt this well for ages.’ He had a very good last day.”
God Bless Keith.
