HORSE RESCUED FROM SINKING SAND
Wednesday February 29th, 2012

Mother and daughter Nichole Graham and Paris Graham were riding their horses along Avalon beech in Geelong South West of Melbourne Australia when they started to sink in sinking sand. The daughter managed to get her horse free and then called for help, but the mother Nichole could only stay and comfort her horse named Astro and await rescue.
The tide was coming in and things didn’t look good for Astro but a local farmer arrived in a tractor and the horse was sedated and a harness was fitted and the tractor dragged Astro out.
Nicole said 'We were just having a leisurely stroll because it's been such a hot few days, walking in about 30cm of water, and then one of the horses sank and then the other horse just sank really deeply,Paris was able to get her pony out straight away but the big horse was too deep in the quick sand to get out.'
You will be relieved to know that despite his three and a half hour nightmare ordeal Astro has only got bruising and will make a full recovery.
