If you really have to set sail in heavy weather make sure you are well prepared before you leave dock. Be certain that your boat is ready to cope with high winds and large waves. Check all your fittings and be sure they are securely mounted and able to take a great deal of strain. Make sure your rigging is up to spec and your bailing equipment is fully functional. If you are not 100% confident after completing all checks do not leave port!
