GIRL RESCUED FROM SEA AT BLACKPOOL

Blackpool Lifeboat was called out to a dramatic rescue on 15th June when a teenager was seen struggling in the sea about 50yards out .The eighteen year old had got stuck under North Pier after she had gone into the water to swim during the incident that happened about 3pm.

Fortunately the girl was pulled to shore by a Coastguard officer and a member of the public with the aid of Blackpool Beach Patrol.

A local police spokesman said, 'We took a 999 call about a girl who went in the sea and then got stuck under the pier... The Coastguard team and a member of the public managed to pull her ashore and get her to safety.'

The girl and her two rescuers were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to be treated for hypothermia and checked for injuries.
