A 63 year old British tourist has been rescued after writing a giant SOS message in the sand. Geoff Keys was swimming in a remote part of Northern Australia, trying to find the Eliot Falls when he got lost. Realising he could not find his way back to a path Geoff gouged the giant "HELP" message in the sand and later that day a helicopter spotted it and rescued him.
The rescue team said that the message had probably saved his life.
Geoff said: “I’m travelling round the world on my motorcycle and I’ve been in some tough positions but this is the one occasion where I wasn’t with my bike, I won’t be going swimming again!”
