The director of the period movies Anna Karina and Pride & Prejudice is now the favourite choice to helm the adaptation of E L James mega-selling sex and sadism book 50 Shades of Grey.
Filmmaker Joe Wright is amongst many names currently being associated with the project including Canadian TV star Stephen Amell and Harry Potter’s Emma Watson both of whom have stated they will not be involved. Wright hasn’t even been approached officially and many say he will pass on the chance. The book is considered by many to be not only un-filmable but also so badly written that it would not be taken seriously as a piece of erotic cinema.
