Starting in November, eight locks will be closed in a project which will continue until March of the following year. It is hoped to improve navigation along the 135 miles of waterway which begins at Cricklade in Wiltshire and continues to Teddington Lock in Middlesex. Below Teddington Lock, the river becomes tidal.
Locks affected are: St John’s Lock, Oxfordshire, Godstow Lock, Oxfordshire, Culham Lock, Oxfordshire, Day’s Lock, Oxfordshire, Temple Lock, Buckinghamshire, Cookham Lock, Berkshire, Boulters Lock, Berkshire, Penton Hook Lock, Middlesex.
