DRUNK PASSENGER DROPS ANCHOR

A cruise passenger has pleaded guilty to sneaking into a restricted area of an ocean liner whilst drunk and dropping the anchor. The MS Rynman was travelling from Mexico to Florida when Rick Elhert took it upon himself to don some work gloves, release the 18 ton stern anchor and throw a life buoy overboard.

As part of his ‘defence’ Mr Elhert said that the anchor system was similar to the one on his own 50ft boat. Fortunately the anchor didn’t hit the ocean bed. If it had it could have sunk the ship. Despite appeals by the ship’s captain for the perpetrator to come forward it wasn’t until CCTV footage was reviewed that Mr Elhert was identified.

He now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine
