DRIVER SURVIVES MULTI STORY CRASH
Wednesday March 9th, 2011
A Chinese driver was left hanging dangerously above the street when he drove his car halfway through the second story wall of an indoor car park, when he mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal.
The un-named driver from Chongqing city told local media, 'I was on a downward slope and simply hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.'
Local refuse collector, Huang Xiaoping, who lives next to the multi-storey car park, said, 'I heard two explosions and I ran outside to see a car sticking out of the wall with the front wheels still spinning... I thought it was a movie shoot at first but then I said to my wife that it sounded too realistic.'
The male driver and his female passenger were taken to hospital for a check-up but were unhurt as the vehicles airbags had inflated on impact. The man also tested negative for alcohol.
A car park attendant said, 'He has been parking here for a long time - he certainly isn't a novice driver'
