Experts are suggesting that smoking could be the cause of the development schizophrenia in patients.
The research team from the Kings College London claim smokers are more at risk of developing schizophrenia at a younger age. They have carried out 61 separate studies and the results point to the fact that the nicotine from cigarettes could be altering the brain. Although the outcome is not yet proven, the experts claim that they have a very strong case that needs further investigation.
