American sailor may give up Atlantic attempt

An American sailor, Steve Shapiro, 71 who has been rescued nine times since setting off from Norway in July is now thinking of giving up his intended Atlantic crossing. His partner Bob Weise, 71, has already abandoned the idea. A major factor for Shapiro is the repair costs involved with his yacht which fell over on its side in Cornwall and also caught fire due to an improperly extinguished candle.
