CROCODILE ESCAPES IN HOLIDAY LAKE

A Russian man has been arrested after his pet crocodile he brought along for ‘happy snaps’ escaped to a lake where hundreds of holiday makers were swimming. The six foot long dinosaur made a break for it whilst his owner was haggling with tourists over the price of a souvenir photo.

One swimmer said, 'I was swimming and suddenly realised there was a crocodile in the water. I was so frightened I almost lost my mind... Everyone was panicking.'

A special police wildlife unit was called to Lake Shira in Siberia and managed to capture the predator before taking it to a nearby aquatic centre to recover.

One of the officers said, 'It was quite a young crocodile and there is plenty of food in this lake - swimmers. We didn't want him to escape and grow any bigger.”
