CROC CAUSES HELICOPTER CRASH

Tuesday June 23rd, 2009
ImageWhen a helicopter pilot spotted a crocodile he got so excited he crashed his helicopter into the very mud flats where the massive reptile and its pals live. Although the pilot only suffered minor injuries his passenger was not so lucky and was seriously hurt.
Fortunately for him his friend acted fast and dragged him out of reach of the crocs and buried him in the sand to prevent him from getting hypothermia. He then called for help using his satellite phone.
'A doctor thought initially the passenger was dead as he was buried in sand,' said Ian Badham, director of the ironically named Careflight, and added that he thought the incident was 'bizarre… It turned out that the pilot had realised it might take rescue services until daylight to actually get there.'
Doctors who arrived at the scene first thought the passenger was dead until they saw his head moving in the sand. He is being treated in hospital for head, chest and arm injuries.
