COAL MINE EXPLOSION IN UKRAINE

Wednesday March 4th, 2015
A coal mine explosion in Donetsk, Eastern Ukraine has killed 30 people and injured 14 according to reports. A local official has said:

'Our preliminary information shows that more than 30 people were killed in the explosion at the Zasyadko coal mine, and rescue workers have not reached the area of the explosion yet, as they are removing the poisonous gasses before they can go down.

Friends and reletives of the mine workers have gathered round the site waiting for news on their loved ones.

One of the workers at the mine who hadn’t been trapped said:

'If they didn't get them out straight away, then later they will only retrieve bodies”

Back in 2007 there was another explosion at the Zasyadko mine in which 106 people were killed.

Our thoughts are with them.
