CLOUD OVER THE BRITISH OLYMPICS
Friday November 13th, 2009

Mayor Boris Johnson has described a proposed ‘digital cloud’ designed to be an Olympic landmark as ‘remarkable’. The 120m structure consists of a ‘three-storey blanket of plastic spheres perching on top of a trio of stilts’. It will act as an observation deck and will display digital information.
Google have already jumped on board to support the project and Mayor Johnson has shortlisted the ‘cloud’ as a possible tourist attraction. Designers hope to raise the cash to build it through millions of ‘micro-donations’.
One of the designers, Carlo Ratti had this to say, 'It's really about people coming together to raise the Cloud... We can build our Cloud with £5million or £50million'
It all sounds like pie in the sky to me.
