BRIT TEEN TAKES SEVEN PEAKS RECORD

A sixteen year old boy from Surbiton has become the youngest person in the world to scale the highest mountains of every continent. George Atkinsonís quest began back in 2005 when he climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzinia. This was followed in 2007 by Mount Elbrus in Russia then both Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia and Argentinaís Mount Aconcagua in 2008. The following year he climbed Mount McKinley in North America and last year he climbed Mount Vinson in Antarctica.

George was 16 years and 362 days when he reached the peak of Mount Everest last week.

His mother Penny announced in her sonís blog, 'George has done it. He reached the summit at about 8.15am Nepali time... It sounds as if the weather is good... A big thank you to everyone who has helped George to achieve his dream... Just get my boy down safe now!'

George has broken the record set my 17 year old American, Johnny Collinson who completed the challenge last year.
