BOY GEORGE BEHIND BARS

Tuesday January 20th, 2009
ImageFormer Pop superstar Boy George has gone back to using his real name George O’Dowd whilst serving a 15month stretch at Pentonville Prison in North London. The flamboyant Culture Club singer was found guilty of imprisoning and beating a rent boy at his home. The judge overseeing the trial accused the 47 year old singer of ‘gratuitous violence’ when he sentenced him last Friday.
Apparently the one time Karma Chameleon had shackled 29 year old Audun Carlsen to a wall in his flat before lashing him with a chain whilst screaming insults in a drug fuelled frenzy. The traumatised Norwegian eventually managed to free himself and escaped to the street below wearing only his underpants. The judge said of the victim that he had been ‘deprived of his liberty and his human dignity’ and that O’Dowd’s actions were ‘callous’ and ‘premeditated.’ He added that the offences were 'so serious that only an immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified'.
It is believed that extra security has had to be utilised to protect the caftan and floppy hat loving reggae singer as he fears he will be victimised for his homosexuality. It is also rumoured that his cellmate has been asked to look after him. For the foreseeable future the once dreadlocked hit machine will be serving fellow inmates breakfast, dinner and tea as part of his £6 a week prison job.
