BEST JOB GOES TO A BRIT

Friday May 15th, 2009
ImageThousands of people worldwide suffered a crashing disappointment recently when the ‘Best Job In The World’ was given to one lucky applicant. Ben Southall was picked from 34,700 video entrants to become the caretaker of an Australian tropical island.
The 34 year-old fundraiser will spend six months exploring the Great Barrier Reef and reporting his findings back to Tourism Queensland via blogs, video diaries, photo diary and interviews. Oh yeah and his salary is £74,000.
When asked about the difficult task ahead Southall said, 'To go away now as the island caretaker for Tourism Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef is an extreme honour.’ And added 'I hope I can fill the boots as much as everybody is expecting, my swimming hopefully is up to standard and I look forward to all of the new roles and the responsibilities that the task involves.'
I bet you do!
